Fundraising
The
Bowl-A-Thon
The
bowl-a-thon can generate a lot of income, if you get
the right person
to organize it. To get started, you will need 20 or
more volunteers who
will ask friends and neighbors to donate a set amount
of money for each
pin knocked down. It is important for the organizer
to stay on top of
the volunteers and to supervise them every day or, perhaps,
several times
the first couple of days. Offering prizes for the most
money raised will
encourage them to work harder and keep them from dropping
out. The key
to a successful fundraiser is to get sponsors. One coach
told his team
"you raise $200 each or you can pay $200 each."
Everyone must get
motivated and stay motivated. The organizer needs to
recruit the prizes
or delegate that position to someone responsible for
getting the job
done. When people come to bowl, they need to split up
into teams of 4 or
5 and bowl 2 or 3 games. Prizes should be gathered for
the volunteers,
as well as the people bringing in the most money. Make
sure its great
stuff.
A 50/50 raffle is when tickets are sold during the game
and you draw for
the chance to knock down certain pins for dollars, the
charity gets 50%
and the winner receives 50%.
The
Tournament
The
easiest way to raise money is through the tournament
method and that is we hold a tournament and we charge
entrants $60.00 each of which $50.00 goes to the charity,
we handle all the headaches, except for prizes and we
have a list of donors. You will need to drum up some
also. We feel that every person should have a chance
to win a prize and with a bunch, we can make that possible.
We have other options that work well also!

Crazy Eights
This is a fun tournament for league bowlers. It moves
very fast and will
generate lots of money if the MC will keep the crowd
involved. The first
bowler rolls a shot and if he knocks down 8 or more,
he advances to the
second lane. (The eight could be a 7). Then the next
bowler tries. The
first will continue advancing as long as they get the
correct amount of
pins. Any bowler who is out can re-enter as long as
they pay the fee of
$5-$10. Have a time limit so you don't stay open all
night. The winner
is the person who gets the furthest during the elapsed
time. The winner
gets half and the cause gets the other half. The first
two can be team
events and you can have sponsors for the teams as an
additional source of revenue.
Fill
in my blank (time)
This is an event which is timed to be held during a
normally slow time of
the day or week. The bowling center will give back up
to half of the
fees to drive the bowling during this quiet time. The
event can be any
of the above, just held at slow times and for a reduced
rate. Ex. Friday
daytime, or Saturday morning.
